1. ANALGESIC DRUGS : These are pains

(B). Paracetamol :it has both antipyretic and analgesic property.

2. ANTIBIOTIC DRUGS : These are used
treatment of inflammation. Bacterial infection or diseases. For example : Broad spectrum antibiotics; tetracycline, ampiclox, chloraphenicol.
Side effects
Tetracycline - Staining of teeth and bone.
Chloraphenicol - suppresses bone marrow function. Thus, lead to Anaplastic Anaemia.
3. ANTIFUNGAL DRUGS : These are used
for treatment of fungal infections. For example : Nystatin, Amphotericine B, Miconazole.
4. SUPPLEMENTARY DRUGS : These are used to supplement the analgesic, antibiotic
or antifungal drugs. Example is the vitaminC (Ascorbic acid) .5. LOCAL ANAESTHESIA: For example topical L.A e.g. Ethyl chloride, Injectible L.A : Xylocaine.
Side effects
- It causes allergy .
- Anaphylactic reactions which can result in loss of consciousness.
6. ANXIOLYTIC DRUGS: For example : Tranquilizers- Tricyclic Antidepressants
Side effects
- can cause XEROSTOMIA ( dry mouth ) .
- can also react with Narcotic analgesics to increase the blood pressure.
7. SEDATIVES: For example:
Barbiturates
- causes respiratory depression.
- cause Steve Johnson syndrome - severe oral ulceration.
Phenothiazine.
- Also causes dry mouth, postural hypotension, oral pigmentation, uncontrollable facial movement.
8. ANTICONVULSANTS: For example : Carbamizepine -tegretol
Side effects
- It causes leucopenia.
- Steve Johnson syndrome
9. ANTIHISTAMINE; For example: Phenegar.
Side effects
- Dry mouth
10. STEROIDS.
Side effects
- Delayed wound healing
- immunity suppression
- bloating up fake healthy look.
11. HAEMATINES: For example: BLOOD TONIC.

- It can stain the oral mucosa.
12. ANTIVIRALS: For example : Acyclovir, idoxyuridine, xidovodine.
