Diagnosis:

What you should expect on your first visit to a gynecologist?
First, the gynecologist will interview you, asking about your family( seriously everything about your family you have to open up), your medical history(perhaps very important). And any fears or apprehension you may have about your personal health. Your  answers and comments are written into your medical records( the file tin.) for future reference. Your information can contain important clues that may help you in diagnosing any present or future disorders.

A sample of urine and a sample of blood is usually obtained for
laboratory tests( this is normal don't be in any fear). During the ensuing physical examination, you must lies on a special examination table with your feet in metal stirrups and your knees apart. A nurse must be present to assist the doctor. While lying
in  the lithotomy position, your abdomen will be gently palpated for lumps or other abnormalities. Your breasts also will be palpated for any possible lumps. Then an external inspection of the vulva and surrounding areas is made by the doctor, followed by internal inspection, in which a speculum is used to spread apart the sides of the vagina so that your cervix is exposed. A digital
examination (using the fingers) is made of the walls of the vagina and rectum and the neighboring tissue areas,in a search for
possible growths or other abnormal conditions. And a sample of cells and secretions from the cervix is taken for a Pap smear test.

In addition to these examination of the breasts and reproductive system, Your gynecologist we conducts a general physical examination, recording information about height, weight, blood pressure, heart and lung condition, and so on (this are very important aspect this should be done after your interview and medical history).

The routine physical examination, like
the medical history, provides additional clues which, when added to the results of the examination of your breasts and reproductive system, will give a complete picture of your gynecological health.

Following the examination, your gynecologist discusses his appraisal of your condition and answers questions. He must discuss whatever treatment you needs.

Medications can be explained at this time, including reasons why certain drugs can or should not be taken. If any surgery or further testing is recommended by your gynecologist, those aspects of the
health picture also should be discussed in some detail. Any important information That might be omitted earlier
(misunderstood or forgotten )we be jotted down for future reference.

Results of some laboratory tests and the Pap Smear are not usually available for several days(keep calm and do not worry). But the doctor or nurse will contact  you when the results is  available. And advise if you should return in the near future for follow up testing.

You should  also  discuss arrangements for future checkups or Pap smear tests rather than wait until signs or symptoms of a serious disorder warrant an immediate visit. In the event of some possible future physical complaint, the fact that you have established some basic medical records with your gynecologist will be of help in making a proper diagnosis and establishing the best course of treatment.
